My involvement in genealogy came later in life. My elderly father had wanted to join the Sons of the American Revolution and requested my assistance in connecting all the dots. Unfortunately the paper trail ended one generation too soon, however, I ended up inheriting several full trunks of photos and documents going as far back as late 1800's from both my father's and mother's sides. Now they are both gone and I am relegated the task of identifying the old photos and recording as much about my families history as I can for present and future generations. What a most interesting endeavor. Hidden family stories that have remained so for generations are suddenly surfacing; many good, a few not so good, but all fascinating. There were so many incredible hardships and yet they exhibited an enduring determination to do what is good and right. I am humbled to realize how many of my forebears had an undying love for the Lord Jesus Christ and shared the message of repentance from sin and turning to Christ for salvation. There was at least one case where they paid for those convictions with their lives.
Well, time to fire up my scanner to digitize all the photos and documents. Thanks for allowing me to ramble a little. Those of you involved in genealogy, thanks for what you do to help all of us.
