Hello . I'm Robert Chilson Patterson . Born in Beckley , West Virginia . 1961 to Harry McConnell Patterson III and Virginia Canterbury Patterson . I'm currently tracing the family history ( for two years )and will be adding a lot of information to this sight as I've already found around twenty relatives on here so far .Family Surnames known; Patterson, Canterbury, McCreery, Chilson, Herold, Starkey, Safford, Sheffler, Gholson, Lacy, McCree, Blankinship, Payne, Pinkney, Rogers, Wilson, Simpson, Riader, Snyder,and a few new one's I'll add later. I'm trying to find pictures any information of past relative's of any sort. I've traced this line of Patterson's to 1774 in Londonderry Ireland but lose track there . It appears Robert Patterson was a popular name even way back then . If you have any info please share .My Grandfather's name was Patrick Harry McConnell Patterson II. His wife Crystal Dale Herold Patterson( both lived most of their life in Beckley WV) . My Great GrandFather was Of course Patrick Harry McConnell Patterson I( Born in Parkersburg , WV in 1878). and he married Willie McCreery Patterson ( both passed away in Beckley WV). His father was Robert Henry Patterson( Born in St Clairsville , Ohio 1842) who married Katharine Ward Safford Patterson . His father was Robert Patterson(born in McConnelsville , Ohio or Wheeling,WV -Two different reports) who was married three separate times . His first wife was Jane Wilson Patterson whom had four children ( one died at a young age )then he married a Mrs. Harriett Simpson they had a daughter (actually had two), Sally V. Patterson who married William King . He married a third time at age 65 to a Emma Jane Raider Clifford who was 38.This Colonel Robert Patterson was a Lawyer/Judge/Senator in 1870's( Mayor of St Mary's WV in 1880 ).His father was named Robert Patterson(middle initial may be J) also and married Sarah Van Meter in 1804 . This Robert Patterson was born in 1774 . He passed way in 1863 and is buried in Seceder Cemetery ,Jefferson County, Ohio . His son's first wife Jane Wilson Patterson is buried there also .
