My great uncle Carl Irby Vance was KIA in England. My late Grandmother (his sister) always wanted to know what happened to him. When she died my uncle inherited his purple heart and the flag that draped his casket. Unfortunately all was lost in a fire approximately 10 years ago. I am so happy to have found his marker and the details of his death during WWII.
