Find a Grave ID

Bio

I am fairly new to genealogy but it has become nearly a full-time quest. Tracing my father's relations, mainly from Washington, Iron, Wayne, St. Francois, Madison and Jefferson Counties, Missouri, has resulted in a tree of nearly 4500 individuals leading me back to the 1620s in Virginia and beyond to France and England several hundred years earlier. I began by tracing the main family names of Duclos/DeClue, Charbonneau, Mabry/Mayberry and Barge/Bartch but has expanded to hundreds more. I love to discover the ways in which individuals lived their daily lives.

It has begun to bother me that Find A Grave is not restricted to listing graves that have actually been found and documented but is also used as a place to post a memorial with no burial info or merely family lore or unfounded burial info. I wish there could be a separate section on the website strictly for documented graves; then I would know how much credence to give to a Find A Grave citation.
