The Hamilton County (Ohio) Genealogical Society was founded in 1973 to take an active role in supporting the collection and preservation of Hamilton County, Ohio records for use in genealogical and family history research. Membership has surpassed 1,000 members from our county and across the country. In celebration of the society's 40th Anniversary and in recognition of the 150 year anniversary period since the Civil War began, a project to honor their service was designed to photograph tombstones and/or create memorials of the Civil War Veterans who are buried in Hamilton County. Volunteers from the society along with their friends and family participated in the project. Since then, we have expanded the search for veterans, from the Revolutionary War up to the Civil War, and for those who served after the Civil War up to the present day.
