When I was a teenager, I didn't understand when my dad dragged me through cemeteries one summer looking for relatives down in Kentucky. Now that I'm older, and Daddy is gone, I *get it*. I understand how important those ties to the past are. I'm "forcing" my children to take Genealogy in 4-H, so hopefully, they will "get it" long before I did. (Update: They do! They got Grand Champion and Reserve Grand Champion at our county 4-H fair, and one of them went on to get blue at the Indiana State Fair.)

I have rejoiced at finding the grave of a lost relative, and I've had the pleasure of calling my mom to tell her I found someone listed on FindAGrave.
