Bio

Hi,

I've been researching my family tree for a number of years now, and I wanted a way to give back to the community of family tree researchers out there... so photography of headstones is one way I can do that!

You can copy and/or use my photographs of headstones that I've posted on find-a-grave as you like. Credit is not required.

***Note*** Please do not post death registration images to my memorials. Instead, provide the text information in an 'other edit' ***
Also, if you have information to add to the bio of a memorial, please submit via 'suggest other corrections', and I will process it within a couple of weeks -- please do not hide these bits of information in the flowers. Thanks!

Unless otherwise specified in the comments, photos were taken within a week of being added to FindAGrave. If taken by other photographers, the comments will have initials. The file number is indicated in the comments -- more than one number means that other photos are available.

I've also created memorials for the Masonic Cemetery in Burnaby, BC, from the cemetery records (all surnames except those beginning with 'R'). As such, all memorials are created initially with burial date as date of death, with a note added. As I go back through them and research death records, etc., I correct the dates and add additional information... and remove the note. Please submit the correct dates whenever you come across one of these memorials and have the proper dates available. Thanks! (And don't worry, I'll remove the note automatically when I process your edit :-) )

Cemetery photo status:
Aberdeen, Abbotsford: completed in summer 2014

Murrayville, Langley: completed May 2015 -- revisited May 2017.

Monumenta, Lynden, WA: completed several sections before ceding to another volunteer in April 2015.

Drumheller, Alberta: took as many as I could while visiting one afternoon in July 2014. Family members also took photos with their cameras/phones.

Mt. Ida, Salmon Arm: took as many as I could while visiting in September 2014.

Kelowna Memorial Park Cemetery: While visiting in July 2015, completed the portion of the lawn section D to the north west of the center circle / office building / parking, from the road to approximately even with the office building, plus some of the Bennett Columbaria. Note: two photographers.

Mt. Lehman Cemetery, Abbotsford: Took photos of all markers on August 15, 2015.

Mountainview Cemetery, Vancouver: Took a few cellphone shots, August 2015.

Forest Home Cemetery, Ponoka, Alberta: Visited on Sept 25, 2015. Two photographers. Photos:
* columbarium
* the parts of sections 12, 12A, 12B, 12C and 12D that are along the West border.
* section 8 and 8A
* the eastern half of section 9D
* some random interesting markers in sections 10/11 and 1-4

Prince George Memorial Park Cemetery, Prince George, BC: Visited on Mar 2016. Two photographers. Photos:
* some in the mausoleum
* sections U, M, N, I, ... not sure on the sections quite yet.
Not all of my photos will be posted, since we were exploring some areas that had been covered by others previously, but feel free to ask for photos if you need them.

Hazelwood Cemetery, Abbotsford, BC: Visited on 16 Jul, 2016. Due to the summer heat, the moss / fungus on some headstones was like concrete, and couldn't be swept off. As such, some headstones were deemed illegible and rejected for the memorials.
Photos:
* first four rows in the section to the NE of the west end of the parking lot
* first four columns in the children & cremated remains section, on top of hill, up to park bench.
* ossuary & scatter gardens
* columbaria

Our Lady Of Good Hope / Hope Pioneer Cemetery / Old Hope Cemetery, Hope, BC:
Visited Sep, 2016. These photos are scattered across the three cemeteries on FindAGrave. There are really two cemeteries, Our Lady of Good Hope Roman Catholic cemetery, and the Hope Pioneer Cemetery, which are adjoined within the same fenced area, separated only by a row of trees and the switch from flat markers to primarily upright stones and/or grave covers.
* completed all of Our Lady of Good Hope section.
* completed all but the last two or three rows of Hope Pioneer Cemetery, due to losing the light.
* note that many of the older stones in Hope Pioneer are illegible, and hence not posted.

Hope Pioneer Cemetery, Hope, BC:
Returned on 2 Oct 2016 to complete the rows I had missed, and re-take some with different light

Royal Canadian Legion Cemetery, Hope, BC:
Visited on 2 Oct 2016. Note it is on opposite side of street from Mountainview Cemetery.
* completed the section for cremation plots.

Mountainview Cemetery, Hope, BC:
Visited on 2 Oct 2016.
