Bio

I currently reside in the East Texas City of Marshall after living in Los Angeles, CA; Longview, TX; Waukegan, IL (suburb of Chicago); Laredo, TX; Artesia and Roswell, NM; and San Angelo, TX.

I have been tracing my family history as far back as I can on both sides of the family for about 20+ years (give or take a few years, as I really do not remember when I started this project, LOL) . I took over the project from my mother. Surnames that I am working on include: Demarest (with all of the various spellings)(Demaree/Demorest/DeMorest,etc.)(total of about 17 different spellings), Giesler, Hardie, Clum, Owens, VanNoy (various spellings), Riemenschneider (various spellings as well) and Alcorn, Bogue, and Shew for starters. I do know that I have German, Dutch, Welsh, and English ancestry, so this project can get a little complicated at times.
I have come across about 98 either National or Veterans Administration operated cemeteries from all across the country as well as the International American Cemeteries in the Philippines, France, N. Africa and the UK (Operated by the American Battle Monuments Commission) that my Demorest (all variations) family is buried within, including Arlington National in Virginia, which this total comes in at about 533 individuals. As you can tell by these numbers, I come from a very PROUD MILITARY FAMILY with service at least as far back as The American Revolution. Some of my Military Family have earned some of the High-Level Awards, such as the Silver Star, Bronze Star, and the Distinguished Flying Cross among other High-Level Awards, though no Medals of Honor (that I have found as of yet).
In October 1991, at the age of 14, I earned the Boy Scouts of America's highest award, that of Eagle Scout. I am also a Lifetime Member to the National Eagle Scout Association putting me in such company as Steven Spielberg, Neil Armstrong, James A. Lovell, and the only U.S. President to achieve Eagle, Gerald Ford.

If politely asked, I will transfer any memorials requested, as long as they are not in my family, unless you are a closer relative.

I do ask that if you have biographical information on one of my memorials that you send me an "other" update suggestion instead of sending a personal email, and please do not send source information in the biographical section.
