Bio

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Kevin for 24 years. We had two beautiful daughters and lived here in CA for 20 years, and them moved to MO for 6, and back to CA in 2011. Our oldest daughter, Heather, died in a car accident in MO on Oct 4, 2013 and life as we knew it changed forever. In her death, I gained many new friends who live with the same grief that we do now. Cecilia Lee introduced me to this site and she actually set up Heather's memorial page. She lost her son, Zane who was a very close friend to Heather. She has encouraged me and been so very kind to me with her heart felt gifts in memory of our beautiful angel. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. I would not have gotten through all the firsts and now the seconds without your support.

We started the Heather Cole Sparkle of Hope scholarship foundation in memory of our beautiful girl. At the time of her death, she was going to college and was planning on becoming a special education teacher. She loved children and would have been a wonderful mother and teacher, but never got the chance. We give a $1000 scholarship annually to a graduating senior from her high school that is going on to become a teacher. This scholarship is self funded, with donations from generous friend and family. We also have done fundraisers to keep it going. Kevin has spent endless hours in the kitchen, making salsa and Heather's favorite spicy dill pickles and we sell those as a fundraiser. The diner where she was a waitress has had tee shirts made in her honor, as well as a memorial car decal to help raise funds. The diner also honors her angelversary by giving a percentage of sales to the scholarship fund. We are so blessed for the support of everyone involved in making this foundation a way for future teachers to finish Heather's dream. :)

I am no stranger to death, although a child is the hardest one to accept or understand. I lost my mother when Heather was only 6 months old. My father and sister died in 2008, and my mother in law in 2011. My grandparents, aunts, uncles, brother-in-law and countless friends are all in God's white light now, keeping my baby safe. I found my parents and sister's memorial and have added them, and will try to add their obitituaries and pictures now that we have this wonderful site to share. It's nice to be able to give them flowers, since their graves are in other states.

God Bless you and your loved ones. Hold them close and always tell them how much they mean to you. Tomorrow is never promised, so make today count.
