John William Swiger and Mary Duval settled in Bavaria, West Germany, where their first child, Christopher, was born in 1750. John and Mary, and Christopher set sail for the new land of beauty and opportunity, in the United States of America, in about 1755. landing in Virginia and made a home in Loudoun County.In Loudoun County, raised about 11 children they spent about 21 years in Loudoun County, Virginia. . In 1777, John,and Mary, moved to Fayette Co.Pennsylvania when John and Christopher(son's) came back from war.John Sr. Started a large distillery in neighboring Greene County, PA, and came into possession of considerable amount of money. (His executors invested this money in a large tract of land in what is now Barbour County, WV,). John Sr. finding his stock wares desiring to replenish it, reportedly set sail back to his native Germany for that purpose. However, he was never heard from again, and was presumed dead at sea. Mary remarried a Joshua Barnes and they traveled down to West Fork Rivers to take up a land grant on what is known as there family farm.
