Hello - Gary A. Bartlett - son of Donald & Geraldine (Covell) Bartlett - here. I am an 11th generation direct Bartlett surname descendant of my original immigrant ancestors George & Mary (Cruttenden) Bartlett. My line of direct surname descent is: Gary (11), Donald (10), Harold (9), D. Clarence (8), H. Russell (7), Hiram (6), Russell (5), Rev. Nathaniel (4), Daniel Jr. (3), Daniel Sr. (2), George Bartlett (1), the immigrant. George & Mary were among the original settlers at Guilford, CT founded in 1639 by the Whitfield Congregation of Puritans, who hailed primarily from the area at the junction of the English counties of Kent, Sussex, and Surrey. My involvement in family history research dates back some 35 years now, and I have done extensive investigation on my direct Bartlett family line, which I have incorporated into a well-documented family history, entitled , "History & Genealogy of a Surviving Line Descended from George & Mary (Cruttenden) Bartlett – Guilford, Connecticut – 1639", which is still a work in progress. I have had three genealogical research articles published in "The Connecticut Nutmegger" Magazine, the academic journal of the Connecticut Society of Genealogists, the first on my ancestor Hiram Bartlett (1790-1875) ("Proofs for the Parentage of Hiram Bartlett" Jun 2006 issue) and the second on his father-in-law Dexter Fisher (1769-1847) ("On the Trail of Dexter Fisher – A Pioneer of the Maumee Valley – From Windham Co, CT to Fulton Co, OH" Nov 2016 issue), establishing and documenting both their parentage and route west from Connecticut to Ohio. The third article entitled "'Refuting Misinformation on George & Mary (Cruttenden) Bartlett of Guilford, CT" was published in the March 2021 issue. I have also had one article posted to Wikipedia, on my ancestor the Rev. Nathaniel Bartlett (1727-1810), a Revolutionary War era clergyman.

I am an inactive member of the Sons of the American Revolution - Ancestor of Record Russell Bartlett (1754-1828) - 6th Co 5th Regt CT Line - and the Connecticut Society of Genealogists. I am an active member of Nash-Hodges Camp # 43 of the Department of Michigan Sons of the Union Veterans of the Civil War - Ancestor of Record Hiram Covell Jr (1826-1918) - Co I 18th MI Vol Inf - and our local genealogical society, the Lenawee County Family Researchers. I also participate in a genealogy round table at our local Lenawee District Library. The LCFR genealogy group publishes a quarterly newsletter, to which I am a regular contributor of family history research articles. Being a prolific writer, I have also written upwards of 100 detailed bios of my ancestors, collateral relatives, and several individuals to whom I am not related, for their Find-A-Grave memorials and Family Search profiles. Even though few references are cited in my bios due to space constraints, the data provided should help point other researchers in the right direction, avoid duplication of effort, and inhibit the dissemination of the misinformation which is so prevalent in family history research.
