The maternal side of my family are mostly buried in Harless Family Cemetery at Alum Creek, WV. About 1998, a person decided to document all the graves and submit them to the WV Archives. She misnamed the cemetery Childress. I have tried all these years to get the name corrected but no one will change it. They don't care. There is a Childress cemetery located on Childress Road. My family cemetery is located on Brounland Road (old Rte. 7) and not located at Brounland, but Alum Creek, Kanawha County.

The section marked off for my family is full; no more can be buried in that section. If you have an obit for a Harless, especially one that lived at Elkview, then that is the cemetery for them. The other section, that my grandfather set aside for Turley and Hager families (related through marriage) may be almost full also. I have not been there for a few years. My great grandfather Harless set aside the plots when he owned the farm in late 1800's. The first burials are members of his in-laws, Keeneys. (I believe the person who originally added this cemetery to Find-a-Grave done so from the list at the state archives.

When you are doing your research, please dig a little more before assuming it is my family cemetery.

Please DO NOT add obituaries or death certificates to my memorials. You will be asked to remove them or I will ask F-A-G to remove them...your choice. I have only added obits when all the survivors are deceased. I do not add death certificates out of consideration for surviving family. The same applies to the bios. I only add the names when they are deceased and I never list the children. Children need all the privacy available especially in today's world. Please be considerate of the living. I believe this may be a F-A-G rule also.
