𝙈𝙮 𝙋𝙚𝙧𝙨𝙤𝙣𝙖𝙡 𝘽𝙞𝙤𝙜𝙧𝙖𝙥𝙝𝙮:
I began building my family tree in 1994 when my youngest child was still in school. I would locate cemeteries where my ancestors are buried and make plans to visit those cemeteries that were on the way to family reunions and photograph the headstones. It wasn't until 2015 that I created a profile here. But I had no time to use it. In 2017 I finally had time to begin working with Find-A-Grave. I started where my husband is buried and noticed there weren't very many memorials added for that cemetery. The next time I went to visit my husband's grave I decided to take photos of the headstones of his grandparents and other close relatives. I eventually added memorials for all of the headstones I could find that didn't already have a memorial in that cemetery because I feel they also deserved to be honored.

In working on my own side of the family I discovered that the cemeteries at Fort Belknap had very few headstone photos or memorials. I live a thousand miles from that location, so I made plans to visit as many cemeteries on that reservation as I could find during the summer when the weather was mostly good. I began my project in 2019 with the help of a cousin who was willing and able to use a Weed Wacker, as tall grasses hide many of the headstones. Throughout the summer we covered six of the largest Cemeteries within a 40-50 mile radius. I feel good about the work we did. We found some very interesting graves. And learned a lot of history as well. The work continues and I am still trying to locate many of the smaller family cemeteries that are scattered throughout that reservation. I would appreciate any help I can get. If you know where any of those cemeteries are, please contact me, either on FAG or my personal email address. [email protected].

Montana releases death certificates which can be found on Ancestry. In some cases you might never know where a person is buried if it wasn't for the burial information written on the death certificates. I do use them because they are proof of the burial location and usually list the names of the person's parents. Vital's are also very important to know and the biggest reason I started searching the cemeteries in the first place. Of course it's personal information but I don't consider them to be an embarrassment to the individual who has passed on and any thoughtful person wouldn't judge the deceased and would know that no one is perfect.

I'm more than willing to transfer any memorial to a family member, no matter how far removed, unless the person is closer related to me.

I also welcome additional information and family connections as well as corrections. You may contact me by leaving me a message on my profile or use my e-mail address.
Thank you!

CRIME STOPPERS
A very Special young man:
17529796 - Michael Stanley "Mike" Carmen (1956 - 1976)
Carmen's murder was the very beginning of "Crime Stoppers." He deserves so much more attention but no one seems to know anything about him, his untimely death, and how his death started the biggest capture and protection service in the country, then spread to other countries. We'll never know how many lives were saved because of Crime Stoppers. The crime that took Carmen's life happened in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
