Lois Ruth Nicholson

Lois Nicholson was born on July 2, 1952 to the late William J Nicholson and Ruth Nicholson in Amsterdam, New York.

Lois and family moved to Le Roy in 1954 to 47 South Street.
She attended Le Roy Central School where she graduated in June of 1971. After graduation she attended Genesee Community College where she earned her A.S. degree in General Studies Music in 1975. She returned later to GCC an earned her Gerontology Certificate in May of 1997.

Ms. Nicholson is very active with the Genesee Chorale and First Presbyterian Church. She has severed as publicity chairman for the Genesee Chorale from 1985 to 1992. She has served on the Board of Deacons and Session, where she has served Chairperson of Music & Worship Committee in 1988 & 2001 and Chairperson of the Program Committee in 1997 and Chairperson of the Mission Committee in 2004-2005. Lois also served has publicity chairperson and Chairperson of the Closet and Publicity and Co-Chairperson of the Dutch Fair and is active in the Church Choir. Ms. Nicholson has also served as President of the Le Roy Town and Country Garden Club from 2001-2003 & from 2005-2006 in Le Roy, New York.

Lois has also served on the American Cancer Society Board and has participated with the Le Roy Rotary Shows in such production as: “Born Free”, “Le Roy Rides Again”, “Soloman Klutz”, “Alice in Reganland”, “The Truth About Cinderella”, “The Ballad of the Flim Flam Man”, “Little Luncheonette of Terror”, “Live A Little”, “Wagon Wheels West”, and “H. M. S. Pinafore”.
In addition to her activities Lois is also a published poetry writer and music writer.
Published works include “Families Are Important”, “Dreams”,
“Friends, Friends, Friends”, “Christmas Star”, “God Will Watch Thee”, & “Friendship” to name a few.
On December 6th, 1998 The Genesee Chorale performed “Sleep Baby Jesus” composed by Lois Nicholson, under the direction of Ron Bordinaro.
“Sleep Baby Jesus” came from her Christmas Cantata “Sing & Rejoice” for Mixed & Solo Voices.
Lois has worked for Tops as a Demo Clerk, Varden Studio as a clerical worker, Wicks Lumber as a housekeeper, Leicester Kids Place as a child care corker, YWCA as program aide and Clerical at the Genesee County Career Center in Batavia, New York.
