Finally putting my old Public History degree to personal use before it's too late....

I'm currently focused on the challenging task of unraveling my mother's very Catholic Marion County, Kentucky Hayden/Abell lineage - a line which fled religious persecution twice (on both sides of the Atlantic), and helped settle Kentucky in the process. Ultimately, this small group of brave pioneers established the Bluegrass State as the "Catholic Mecca" of the US, and gave us a fine bourbon whiskey, to boot. Dad's direct line of Schuylers, who removed from New Jersey to Ohio just after the turn of the 19th C keep me equally busy, and frequently confused. Just how many Jacob and William Schuylers were there, anyway? So if you hear from me, that's probably why.

I love Find a Grave, and truly appreciate the devotion, time and effort of its many volunteers - Thank you for all you do to honor the memory of our ancestors! If you find any errors I've made, please use the Suggest a Correction link. I'd truly appreciate your help, and only want the best, most accurate information for all.

Thanks also to the many friendly contributors who have helped me find my way on this journey!
