Having lived on the county line of Sabine County and San Augustine County has given me the opportunity to explore some of the grandest history in "God's Country". I have prepared directories and maps of 11 cemeteries in this area. Those cemeteries are Chapel Hill, San Augustine City, Liberty Springs, McMahan Chapel, Myrtle Springs, Shelbyville, Patroon, Lower Chireno, Rosevine, Magnolia Springs, and Thomas. As a member of McMahan Chapel, oldest protestant church in Texas (1833)my interest in these older cemeteries is always peaked.
