I am the 2nd of 3 children born to Robert H. Flaherty and Ruth Nell (nee Wise) Flaherty. Our Mom was a full time housewife after she married. Our Dad was a career U.S. Air Force officer. I was born while my parents were stationed at Maxwell A.F. Base in Alabama. Due to his job, we lived in 4 States as well as spending 4 years overseas. During those years I went to 10 schools in 12 years. After getting my B.S. at UMass, I went to UConn for my M.A. While at UConn I met my future husband. We both got jobs in CT - he in computer analysis and I as a public school teacher. We retired after 35 years, and are still in CT.

My interest in my family genealogy began in the 1960s when we lived overseas in countries, or visited places, where my direct ancestors lived.
