Find a Grave ID

Bio

I am a retired registered nurse, & started ancestry last fall. I always start a search w/ findagrave, so appreciate the info. I love the obits, links they provide & family history. So I started taking photos, & found that isn't as easy as I thought!!! I live in Ankeny,Iowa, so have easy access to the Des Moines cemeteries. We also used to live in Nevada, Iowa, so am trying to go there 1 x a week. I have lots of family in the Story City & Roland area, so can go to those also.
Ok. Twice this past week centributors have accused me of being "insensitive to family's feelings" because of photos I took of their families graves. One because I included the back which had family members & one because I included a photo of a "gift of life donor symbol" on the grave. I really resent people who don't know me forming an opinion of me which is TOTALLY INCORRECT!! I was a nurse for 40 yrs., & have walked alongside life & death my whole life. I have worked closely w/ grieving families & rejoiced w/ families when their loved one turned a corner & recovered. I worked with a surgeon that did heart transplants, & even one who received the gift of the heart of my son's best friend. When I see "Donor of Life" symbol, I AM GRATEFUL that this family in their time of sorrow could make this incredibly difficult decision to help another family so they didn't have to experience what they just did. So THANK YOU ALL WHO HAVE MADE THIS SACRIFICE. I have spent many days & many hours recording the graves in the Nevada Cemetery, working to get the 46% photographed to 100%!! It just reached 91%, of which I am quite proud. SO, if you would like me to delete any photos, ask respectfully, you needn't say anything else. You do not have to made me feel horrible when I'm happy to accommidate. But, you DO NOT HAVE TO CRITICIZE & demean any contributor who is doing this as a volunteer. I''m sorry for all our losses. That's why we do this, to preserve memories.
