Nickname: "Carolann"

I was born and named Carol Ann Crockett on the 28th day of February
1941 - at home this day on Western Avenue in Lucas County, Toledo, Ohio, a "Buckeye," to my beloved Parents Frank David and Ardis Margaret Crockett

My Maternal Grand parents Carl and Esther Auer who at this time also lived in Toledo in separate housing.

My Paternal Grandfather Thomas Crockett had still lived in East Chicago Lake County, Indiana. Dad wanted to live closer to him so we moved to Lake Hills, Indiana nearer him.

One of my biggest and most fondest memories as a child is when he was always a part of our lodging, fishing, and telling us stories of all kinds while at the Illinois Kankakee River State Park and Campground where we frequently visited on weekends.

I shared the same "Birth-day" with my Grandad Tom until his fatal heart attack February 18, 1949 age 75 when I was eight years old.

My Paternal Grd-Mother Myrtle had divorced, remarried man named Walter Cantelo and lived in West Palm Bea Beach, FL many years. 1954-She moved to W.Palm Beach, FL when I was 7yrs old attending 1st gradegradehaving entered 1st grade at Dyer Elem in Dyer, IN until the at that time was married to Walter Cantelo Sr who died at his home mid 1960's.

1969 - Myrtle then had moved to Hollywood, Florida to live her remaining years with her Son, my Dad, Frank Crockett and daughter-inLaw Ardis.

I am of English, Irish, Scottish, and German Ancestry.

My American born English-German Maternal Grd-Parents both lived disturbing young lives; they had married but were always
incompatible and bit abusive to each other their entire marriage.
They had two daughters, 1922-Mom Ardis Auer
1930-Aunt Grace Auer.
They divorced, neither had ever remarried!

ANCESTRY
Maternal GrandParents: Esther M. Belman (Auer), English /
Carl W. Auer, German.

Paternal GrandParents: Myrtle (Daly/Daily/Daley/ or Dailey? ) Crockett-Cantelo: Irish / Thomas Crockett: Scottish.

SIBLINGS
1939-My Older Brother David was born November; as like myself was also born in Lucas County, Toledo, Ohio

1943.. We had moved into a newly built home in the City of 'Hessville' now a suburb of Hammond, Lake County, Indiana.

1944.. My younger Sister Nancy was born June in Lake County, Gary, Indiana.
1946.. My younger Brother Cary was also born in Lake County, Gary, Indiana same year late November.
We are now a happy family of "six" living a fun-filled country life nearby city of Hammond called "Lake Hills," Lake County, Indiana the "Hoosier" State. It too annexed and is now called Schererville, Indiana.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
1947-1950.. Myself and brother David [18 mos] older were being bused to elementary school attending my [K-4] grades, his [1-5] grades at Dyer Elementary in Dyer, Indiana.

During this time I proudly became a Girl Scout and joined the local 4H Club. Loved playing baseball, roller skating, bicycling, yard games, family times, picnics, music, dance, and my best friends!

This was also an era that Polio became rampant; the Polio Vaccine was introduced and instantly became mandatory to all school children first.

1951.. Dad had gave us the entire year to ponder over "if" moving to Florida, our very last move, would be of our liking which meant ...
"No snow, or heavy winter clothing," replaced mostly of bathing suits, shorts, flip flops, and sandals spending lots of fun'N'sun times at the beaches. We instantly wanted to start packing just thinking about the beaches, sand, palm trees and those milky coconuts!

1952-1956..
HERE WE COME FLORIDA!

Our destination: West Palm Beach, FL where my dad's mom Myrtle lived after she had remarried and became Mrs. Walter Cantelo.
While in Palm Beach County I attended three schools: (5-6) grades at Northboro Elem in West Palm Beach; (7th) grade at Lake Worth Jr H.S., (8-9) grades at Central Jr High, after moving back to West Palm Beach.

1955.. I was then age 13 happily a preteen; My Sis Nancy was age 10, brothers David now 15, Carey age 9 were all attending bible services as members of the White Temple Christian Church at 215 North Congress Ave in West Palm Beach, FL and were all Baptized on April 24, 1955 by the Pastor Robert S. Bennett.

1956.. We now finally and permanently settled by moving 60 miles South to a newly built Broward County Subdivision called "Look Homes."
It was a new home and final established family home, parents living there 45 years on the waterway, with canals that led to the Ft Lauderdale Port Everglades and Atlantic Ocean, also accessible many miles North and South. The best of times was being able to fish, swim, and boat.. Until, years later the canalways were all dredged leading to the ocean saltwater, also opening it to rising sea levels. More so, the final riddance of those nasty alligators was a total blessing!

1957-1959.. HIGH SCHOOL
I attended my last three years education at South Broward H.S. in Hollywood, FL as a very proud '1959 Graduate. I loved my High School years; the 50's era is remembered and forever known as "The Fabulous Fifties," and truely was!

EMPLOYMENT
1960-1961.. I furthered my education attending Business College in the City of Miami-Dade for two years, acquired a Business Degree and Employment consisting of Secretarial, File Clerk, Clerk typist, Payroll, as well several Assistant Manager positions between Broward and Dade counties. Also employed at several Miami Corporate Office locations of downtown Miami Herald News/ TV Station WSVN Channel #7 in Miami; Americana-Sheraton Hotel Miami Beach / Ft Lauderdale-Hwd Airport/Exec Offices of Eckerd Drug Store Chain-Hollywood, FL (Industrial Center), and Real Estate conglomerate Gulf American Land Corp Exec Offices in North Miami.
I truely enjoyed working with these company's due to the diversity of these positions appreciating what all I learned.

My best employment memories were at TV Station, the Sheraton Hotel, my four years at Gulf American Land Corp and two years at Palm Beach Investment Properties working alongside Manager Madeleine Merril as her assistant.
We lost contact with each other over 30+ years, then found her working at a jewelry store office-Orlando when I heard her voice and screamed out her name in amazement! Forever Friends, to this day now over 60 years!

AMERICA SADDENED 1960's... The U.S. at
this time had been totally and emotionally traumatized by the Assassinations of JFK, RFK and MLK, all within the first five years.

MARRIAGE
1970.. I Met the second and final love of my life.
1971.. We became engaged and looking forward to marriage. We then decided to tie-the-knot sooner than later at age 30. The sooner was great, the latter was of certain fate! A healthy solid lasting marriage is built on Trust, Honesty, and Faithfulness; He chose not to honor any three! It was said he would regret, but never admit to his stupid choices even after his three+ divorces!"
This was an assertive man that seemed never to be satisfied; a person who always thought he was so above all others and intently righteous!

1974 My precious, loving daughter was born. She always and forever continues to surprise and bless me in life, as well the song "You are my Sunshine," became so meaningful to she and I ever since her-birth, and now her son!

1991.. A final Divorce Decree occured after a long, "four-year" costly Court battle with him over anything "and" everything! But, when it came to his trying to prove himself the better person for custody of my only child, my daughter, "O'No?" The three Judges saw through all the dumb, nasty craziness he had presented, as well exaggerating his gut comments and belittling of me. His thinking he had the upper hand in our entire divorce. Not!!
It was his biggest downfall!

By this time he should have known that Pisces people and Judges are very precise, consistent and hate liars! Money was never an issue with him, so that being said, monetary payoffs usually win for him in the end, Not-in-my-case! Total three Judges of four years were my Jurors, not him!

TIME TO MOVE ON!
1997..Among all life's changes and now "six" years later, I anxiously needed to downsize as well acquire an all new lifestyle!

So I sold my 3/2 pool home and moved from South Florida, as the Cost of Living; Property Taxes, Auto, Home, as well as high Flood and Wind Insurance rates etc were unbelieveable!

1998..I left Broward County Florida after 44 years, and happily settled down in the "City Beautiful" of Orlando, FL for the next 25 years having met some
great neighbors, pool and home parties, joined Ballys Gym Club, become member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Ladies Auxillary, and then Orlando 55 Plus.

I immensely enjoyed the comfort of my two-two lower corner Orlando Condo, screened porch, garage, and secluded back yard, on a quiet
cul-de-sac.

2013... So very happy when my Daughter gave birth to her first child, my 1st grandchild, a healthy, handsome baby boy, born first week of July.
She and her husband are so Happy, Loving and the Best of Parents!
My mother "Ardis" was in my Home in my care and Hospice at this time, and sadly passed away September 3rd, before getting to see her precious newborn great-grandson.

2015.. So grateful to have found this website. I have since been able to create many Bio's of my Ancestors embedded here online for eternity and most proud that I will have left my family "legacy" behind me for anyone to search, read any my deceased family members Bios about the life "they" lived! Also, the easy ability to post photos have brought back so many loving memories. As for the Ancestors I never knew and always felt was hear-say, I now feel I have satisfied all my search questions with answers. Proof that "Seeing is Believing!"

THANK YOU DAD for the many boxes your one-man photography produced over decades and Mom who always cherished and saved them to hand down... Lucky me! If only they could see what I have accomplished and how much I love and value his years of incredible photographic memories and ingenuity.
My Dad was my very first love, loving and admired the person and man he was, his strengths and his forever believing in me!

ABOUT ME AND MY LIFE... has been very rewarding, at times challenging and/or disappointing but I've never regretted any my decisions, except having to divorce due to his unfaithfulness.

1966... His "1st" marriage before me, they had a son a year later and divorced after only five years.

1971... I became his "2nd" marriage. 'WE' gained custody his Son year 1974, had our daughter same year!
1991- Our divorce had become final after twenty years of marriage!

1991... He again tried a "3rd" marriage; dated her while we were still married, selfishly agitating his daughter, our only child, to her very core.
Without doubt, his guilt, lack of compassion, ignorance, selfishness, has forever destroyed their father, daughter relationship; as well his newborn grandson born 2013.. which he has never seen, called, acknowledged or even concerned to this day! Stupid is, Stupid does! A loving parent always thinks of their children first!
1991... Now his "3rd" marriage had occured Feb 1991. She knew his entire adult life he was self-employed, a devout businessman, and was financially well off! She was a bar maid, he loved his whiskey. I never liked alcohoL.
Their five-year short marriage ended after a two-year battle also in divorce court! As like a dog catcher; desperate to catch a dog.. and she did!" They had alot in common, ie their three marriages. Their marriage became their third divorce for them both.
My ultimate promise in life has been to be loving, trustworthy, honest, unselfish, considerate and caring. Unknown, If in any way I offended you in my lifetime, I truly and do sincerely apologize; I have always considered Humanity to honestly be a priority in my life and treated likewise..

My mother always said, You cannot make people love you or understand you, but never give up trying! She and I have always shared a very close loving bond, like sisters.
I have felt S♡ blessed to have had her in my life to age 90. Miss her smile, hugs, and my family S♡ very much!

PS- "My dream came true" when I moved to Colorado Dec 2021 closeby my daughter and family.. Thank Y♡u Sweetpea with all my heart. So happy that you did!
