Bio

I started getting interested in my family ancestry after my father, Ralph Edwards Detwiler, told me he was related to Emanuel Gottlieb Leutze, on his mother's side of our family, who painted "Washington Crossing the Delaware", in 1851. The original painting was part of the collection at the Kunsthalle in Bremen, Germany and was destroyed in a bombing in 1942, during WW II. He had painted two more versions, one is now at The Metropolitian Museum of Art in New York City. The other was in the West Wing of the White House but is now at The Minnesota Marine Art Museum In Winona, Minnesota.I was born in East Falls, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on January 17, 1952, where I lived until 12 years of age. Then my parents, Ralph E. and Katherine M. Sigwart Detwiler, moved us to Norristown, PA, until they decided to move us all to California where we lived for 2-3 months in Clairemont. We then returned to Norristown where I stayed until I moved out on my own. I lived in New Jersey and Pennsylvania until 1986 when I moved to Texas. I am now living in White Settlement, TX where I plan on living out the rest of my days.I am interested in trying to find family members of my parents, Ralph Edwards Detwiler (DETWILER-DAVIES) & Katherine (Catherine) Marie "Kitty" Sigwart Detwiler (SIGWART-MILLER) my husband's family (COLEMAN-ALONGE), my daughter's father's family (AUNGST-O'CONNELL). Any relations to DETWILER, DAVIES, SIGWART, MILLER, AUNGST, GREEN starting in Pennsylvania, COLEMAN and ALONGE starting in New York and BENNETT in Texas.I will also request transferring of any friends I find on this site that are not being managed/maintained by one of their family members.I would appreciate any information you might have. Any information and pictures I have I would be happy to share with you. This site has already given me so much information on the families I am researching, and I just begun.
