I am a retired school librarian. I have only been working on my family genealogy for 8 years. I volunteer at the Ohio Genealogy Library and I am impressed with the wide variety of materials contained therein as well as the access to many paid genealogical sites that are available in their computer room which are available to members . I decided to work with other volunteers for about 8 months because although I have spent my entire career as a professional librarian I was not familiar with the OGS collection. I have learned a lot about the collection the past year. I help beginning researchers and have enjoyed working with other volunteers getting probate records ready for filming, and typing coroner reports into an Excel spreadsheet. The director of the library Tom Neel has recruited a wonderful staff, and many knowledgeable volunteers.
