Bio

I am researching the Clackmannan Bonnars.

In 1710, a James Bonnar married Bessie Colt in Clackmannan. It was the first appearance of a Bonnar / Bonar in the BMD records in Clackmannanshire. Their descendants stayed in Clackmannanshire for many generations and then started spreading out to other parts of Scotland, to England, Australia, the USA and Canada.

So far, I am limiting my research to following the Bonnar name, rather than their genes. So, the male lines rather than the female (although I include the first generation of non-Bonnars because the name often appears as a middle name).

The name itself changes in spelling, so descendants of James and Bessie may be Bonar, Bonnar, or Bonner.
