Daughter of Anthony J. and Rose Alexa, related to all Alexas and Aleksas from Erie. My father was a teacher at Tech for many years. One brother, Mark, moved to Florida and died there too young. Both sets of grandparents were immigrants. Some sons chose to spell the name "Alexa", others "Aleksa" because there is no "x" in the Russian (Cyrillic) alphabet. I heard stories as a child of other brothers or cousins who were turned back at Ellis Island because they had TB (possibly?) and continued on the boat to South America. If anyone ever comes across this and knows anything, I'd appreciate any information I can get.

I'd like to thank the wonderful people who took the time to photograph and upload all of these grave markers! What a marvellous find this website has been: I've been able to "visit" gravesites of people I know that I probably won't ever be able to do again because I'm handicapped.
