We are working with the Hazelwood Cemetery, which is on the Colonia , Clark, and Rahway borders in NJ. It is also on the Middlesex and Union County borders. We believe that the entire cemetery is now photographed, although we still occasionally find someone we missed. We are now focusing on transcribing unmarked grave. Perhaps up to 35% of graves are unmarked. We have observed that often a grave may not get a monument for a decade after initial interment.
If you have additional information on any Hazelwood memorials please share it and we will gladly post it. Including obits, history notes, or whatever would be appropriate and useful to others.
All of the entries include GPS coordinates which are believed to be accurate within 25 feet. This depends on the accuracy of our GPS and YOUR GPS at any given moment. The GPS is about 6 feet in front of the headstone when the picture is taken.
In some cases, we have added a duplicate headstone picture to a memorial. Our pictures have GPS information embedded in it, which populates the GPS field for the memorial. The new mobile apps from FaG supports GPS enabled smartphones.
If you wish to use any picture(s) we have posted here, please go ahead, no need to ask. The work we do at Hazelwood is for others. If you need a better or different picture. We will do our best to get it promptly.
We take pictures year-round, spring pictures are the best and winter pictures generally are not as good.
