RE: Henry Hicks

I've transferred the management to you. I'm happy to do so. He is buried near one of my relatives and Hicks is a family name for me as well (including a Henry Hicks) so I thought he might be a direct lineage but realized he does not fit the years that are in my direct lineage. I was snapping photos along a trip this summer when I didn't have my genealogy notes on me. I'm happy I could find someone in his direct lineage to manage the entry.

RE: Alex Lewis

I apologize for taking so long with my reply/transfer. We just returned from a vacation in Alaska and I have been in catchup mode for the past few days. Yes, Alexander's headstone isn't in good shape. Many of the handmade stones don't seem to last as long in Kentucky's weather. I also added his son's headstone photo and that one is in much better condition. I don't know if you heard the news but a month or so ago, someone vandalized Waring Cemetery, knocking down several headstones with his car. I still haven't heard which headstones were hit but they did say some of them were very old. Like you, I have quite a few family members buried there so this is quite concerning..I am sure they reset the stones by now.

I found John Henry Lewis' death record last night (from and added it to his memorial just in case you don't have it. I can remove it if you prefer. It provides a birth date for him. The burial location shows Portsmouth but he wasn't listed in the online records for Greenlawn. Records for most of the other Scioto County cemeteries are hard to find online. Perhaps he was buried with other family members in Scioto. It's also possible he was buried in Waring Cemetery but I don't have a cemetery book for that particular cemetery. The Lewis County History Center has them for purchase but I haven't gotten around to sending them a purchase request. I also tried to find another article for John Lewis' burial but had no luck. The early obits don't always have follow ups with regard to new information of a burial. It's possible that the Lewis County Historical Society might have a record for him. They keep a lot of obits for that area.

If I come across anything in the future, I will contact you.

Have a great weekend!

RE: Joanne Lewis Mayes
I'll sure try. What is your grandmother's name, DOB and/or memorial #. I did link your grandfather. LMK
