Obituary: BOUNTIFUL--John L Duncan, 77, of Bountiful, passed away at home Saturday, March 27, 1999. John was born in Fresno, California June 30, 1921 to John LeRoy and Elizabeth Duke Duncan. He attended schools in California, Oregon, and Utah, including Provo High and graduated from Lincoln High in Orem, Utah. He also attended Henagar Business College in Salt Lake City. John married Arba Day July 31, 1940; which was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple in 1942.He is survived by his loving wife, Arba; six children, Jeril Ann (Michael) Brown, Lana Jean (Mikel) Goodwin, Shari Loreen (Vern) Green, Katherine (Dennis) Erekson, John Gregory (Christie) Duncan, Laurel (Bruce) Olson, 29 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; his sister, Betty (LaMont) Gardner; a foster brother, Hiram Plummer; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. John was very active in the LDS Church, serving in two bishoprics and two High Councils as well as various callings to teach. Arba and John served together as ordinance workers in the Salt Lake Temple and on an 18 month mission in North Carolina. John joined the U.S. Merchant Marine, serving in the South Pacific during World War II; the final seven months beside his father until the end of the war with Japan. He joined General Electric Company as District Manager of the Clock Department in Seattle, later to San Francisco, Denver and Salt Lake City. He retired in 1986 after serving 24 years. After retirement, John distributed video products for RCA. Funeral services will be held at Oak Hills LDS Chapel, 455 South 1200 East, Friday, April 2, 1999 at 1 p.m. Friends may call Thursday from 6 - 8 p.m. at Russon Brothers Bountiful Mortuary, 295 North Main Street, and Friday from 11:45 - 12:45 at the church prior to services.
