My Grandad, Gordon Irby, was born in Hart, Arkansas to William and Susie (Holland) Irby. He moved to Wenatchee, where he met and married Alma Tucker when he was 20 years old. He took a job as a letter carrier and worked for the Post Office for 35 years and 1 week. He loved to talk so he preferred the walking routes where he could interact with all the neighbors. When I was small, I would hide in the closet and wait for him to come home from work. When he would open the door, to hang up his coat, he always pretended that I scared him.

Grandad will always be remembered for his sense of humor. He had a joke for every person and every occasion. He was also a very faithful member of the Kings Orchard Church of Christ.

When Gram was suffering from Alzheimer's, Grandad lovingly took care of her at home for as long as he could. When she had to moved to a care facility he went at least twice a day to feed her. He became a friend to all the patients and a helper to all of the caregivers.

He passed away from a quick battle with cancer.
