Mrs. Marie (Mary) Brave
Mrs. Mary Brave, 93, a resident of this vicinity most of her life, died at 3 p.m. Friday at the Ramsey Nursing home in Alhambra where she had lived for the past seven months.
She was born Apr. 12, 1862 in Germany and came to this country at the age of 20. Her parents were the late Henry and Christine Scherf. She was married to Louis Brave of Edwardsville Nov. 16, 1883. Mr. Brave died March 16, 1928.
Survivors are three sons, William and Edward Brave of Edwardsville, Albert of Wood River; and three daughters, Mrs. Edward (Emma) Schoenbaum, Wood River, Mrs. Fred G. (Mary) Schaefer and Mrs. William (Tillie) Bardelmeier, both of Edwardsville. There are 17 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. A son, Louis, and a daughter, Mrs. H.C. (Louise) Bartels, preceded her in death.
The deceased was affiliated with Eden Evangelical and Reformed church and was a member of the Women's guild of the church.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. Saturday at the Schneider funeral home until 11 a.m. Monday when the body will be taken to the church to lie in state until time of service at 2 p.m. The Rev. R.F. Tormohlen, pastor, will officiate.
Burial will be in Woodlawn cemetery.
