Inventor, Businessman. He began his career as a metallurgical engineer for United States Steel in Duluth, Minnesota. After serving in World War II, he returned to Minnesota and founded the Northland Aluminum Comapny which manufactured kitchen utensils and bake ware known as Nordic Ware. In 1950 he was approached by a group of women asking him to design a pan that could be used to make "kugel", a pudding popular in Europe. He responded by developing a fluted cast aluninum pan. It was trademarked as the "Bundt pan". The popularity of his invention sky-rocketed when, in 1966, a recipe, using his pan, won the Pillsbury Bake-off. There have been over 45 million sold since its inception. He was inducted into the Entrepreneur's Hall of Fame in Boston in 1987.
