19th Governor of Nevada. A native of Vicksburg, Mississippi, he moved to Nevada in 1904 where, after a stint in the lumber and coal industry he became involved in the newspaper industry, owning several newspaper companies. He served as Governor of Nevada from 1945 to 1951. He was the son of William Buckner Pittman and Catherine Key and brother to Key Pittman. He married Ida Louise Brewington on May 20, 1919 in Reno, Nevada.
