Isolationist Senator from Idaho. Senator Borah was elected to 6 terms in the U.S. Senate and died of a stroke while still in office. One of only 16 'progressives' in the Senate at the time of his death, he was a noted 'Isolationist'. Offered the Vice-Presidential nomination by Calvin Coolidge, he declined. Senator Borah lost his own bid for the the Republican Presidential nomination in 1936 with newspaperman Frank Gannette as his running mate. Dem. F.D.R. was eventually elected President.
