Arthur Lee Walker, 74, of Asheville, passed away Thursday, August 27, 2009 at the Memorial Campus of Mission Hospitals.

A lifelong resident of Buncombe County, Mr. Walker worked for Magnavox as a cabinet finisher. His passion was music, and could play a variety of stringed instruments. He played guitar for several quartets in the area.

Mr. Walker was the son of the late Robert Lee and Onita Darcas Beam Walker. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Paul Walker, and two sisters: Hazel and Margaret Walker.

Surviving are his wife, Mary Ann Burnette Walker, of the home; son, Roger Lee Walker of Asheville; sisters: Lottie Franklin of Oakley, Freeda Parker and husband Charles of Asheville, Madeline Bonham and husband Ralph of Leicester, Trudy Collins and husband Marvin of Weaverville, and Sheila Higgins and husband Jack of Candler; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 PM Sunday in the chapel of Anders-Rice Funeral Home and Cremation Center, with the Rev. Charles Parker officiating. Entombment will follow at Ashelawn Gardens of Memory.
