Professional Hockey Player. For eleven seasons (1947 to 1958), he played at the center position in the National Hockey League with the Chicago Blackhawks and Detroit Red Wings. Born Dmytro Prystari, he achieved star status while with the Moose Jaw Canucks of the Junior Hockey League. He marked his NHL debut during the 1947-1948 season and played in 54 games with Chicago that year. He yielded the first of three 20+ goal seasons, when he produced a career-high 29 goals scored during the 1949-1950 campaign. After he was acquired by the Red Wings, he experienced three Stanley Cup titles (1952, 1954 and 1955) and was a component to Detroit's highly-productive lines for which included Gordie Howe, Ted Lindsay, Alex Delvecchio and Red Kelly. In 674 regular season NHL games, he compiled 151 goals and 179 assists. After retiring as a player, he returned to Moose Jaw to serve as the Canucks' coach. He later went onto a career in sales and the automobile industry.
