Musician. Born Otis Wilson Maphis in Suffolk, Virginia, he was a double neck guitar player best known for being half of the popular husband-wife country music duo, "Joe and Rose Maphis". During the 1940s to 1960s, together with his wife Rose Lee, they rose to prominence with various hits including their most well known song, "Dim Lights, Thick Smoke (And Loud, Loud Music)." With his double-neck Mosrite guitar, he was one of the flashiest country artists dubbed the King of Strings, as featured on his solo album "Fire on the Strings" (1957). He was also a regular guest on the Jimmy Dean television show in the 1960s.
