They celebrated Christmas Eve with food, gifts, and candy from a pinata they broke earlier in the day. A disco ball spun in one of the rooms and Marivel danced with her siblings, to whom she was very close. Everyone was having a good time. Just before midnight the children wanted more candy. In the holiday spirit, Marivel's mother took three of the children with her to go to the 24 hour mini mart for more candy and left Marivel behind because she was playing. From what family members have pieced together, Marivel ran out to join her siblings and must have slipped on some ice along the driveway as her mother was backing out of the driveway. She didn't know Marivel was behind the vehicle.

Marivel is the 6 year old daughter of David Alvarez and Cordelia Mae Sommers Quistorf, and died on Christmas Day as the result of this tragic accident.

She was currently a first grade student at Washington Elementary School and truly loved attending classes and shared a wonderful relationship with her teacher, Miss Gruber. She especially enjoyed reading, drawing pictures, and participating in after school activities with her friends and special relatives, Leo, Chalino, and Caridad. She liked horses and all things associated with them.

In addition to her parents, Marivel is survived by her twin sister, Marisol, two brothers, David, Jr. and Armando, her sister, Mercedes, all at home, maternal grandmother, Joan (Alvaro) Coto Dominguez of Sheboygan, maternal great-grandmother, Charlotte Quistorf of Manitowoc, paternal grandparents, Virginia and David Alvarez, St., of Houston, Texas, numerous aunts, uncles, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her great-grandfather, Charles Quistorf.

Funeral services were held Friday, December 30, 2005, at Ballhorn Chapels. The Rev. Gregory S. Whelton officiated. A memorial fund has been established in her name.

The family would like to extend their gratitude to the Sheboygan Police Department and the staff of St. Nicholas Hospital for all their efforts.

Marivel will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

Rest in sweet peace, little angel.

A special thank you to our special angel, Sparkysgrl, for sponsoring Marivel's memorial page. God bless you!
