Singer, Actor. Jeffries made his first appearance in the movie "Harlem on the Prairie", as a singing cowboy. He was dubbed "The Bronze Buckaroo" and went on to perform in three other westerns aimed at black audiences. He was an original member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, and was the vocalist on the 1940 song "Flamingo". Jeffries received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2004, on his 93rd birthday. He died of heart failure at the age of 100.
