Roman Catholic Pope. Also called Fabian, he was chosen Pope in January 236 in succession to Pope Anterus. Fabianius, who was martyred during the persecution under the Roman Emperor Decius, died in 250 and was buried in the catacomb of Callixtus, where his sarcophagus was found in 1915.
