Thomas Meredith Thweatt Wall was the son of Thomas Meredith Wall and Elizabeth Hardaway (Short) Wall. Thomas's father died of yellow fever contracted while he served in the War of 1812, before Thomas was 1 year old.

Thomas had the following brothers and sisters: Nancy Hardaway Wall, Henry Freeman Wall, Thomas H Wall(born 1802/died 1803), Rebecca Ann D Wall, Frederick S Wall (died at age 14,after being thrown from a horse), Marion Wall, Solomon Wall(born/died 1805), Jane H Wall, Elizabeth E Wall, and John H Wall.

On 22 Mar 1837 Thomas married his first wife, Elizabeth H Clack, daughter of Thomas Clack and Elizabeth Tangles. Thomas and Elizabeth moved to Tennessee in the 1840's. They had 11 children: William Henry Freeman Wall (died 1861), Mary Ann Jane Wall (born 1839/died 1840), Rebecca Elizabeth Wall, Nathan Thweatt Wall, Thomas Meredith Wall, Marina Peterson Wall, Roanne Williamson Thweatt Wall, Lorenzo Dow Wall, James K Polk Wall, John Eldridge Wall, and Sterling Hartwell Wall.

Thomas enlisted in the 1st Battalion, Tennessee Infantry, (Colms') Company A on 10 Dec 1861, even though at 49, he was quite old. He fought in the Battle of Chickasaw Bayou, Mississippi. He was discharged in March 1863, a month after the death of his wife, Elizabeth.

In August 1864, Thomas married again to Melissa Ann Jones, and had 4 more children: Christopher Columbus Wall, William Henry Wall, Martha Elmiry Wall, and Frederick Wall.

Melissa died, and Thomas married third (in 1875) Rebecca Elexandra. After Rebecca died, Thomas married a fourth time, in 1881, to Nancy E Calwell.

Thomas died in Jefferson, DeKalb County, Tennessee on 2 Oct 1890.
