Death of G.W. Abbott
G.W. Abbott, of 1505 East Tenth avenue, passed away at the family home last evening at eleven o'clock following an illness of three months suffering with Bright's disease.

Mr. Abbott was born December 4th, 1840 at Portsmouth, Ohio. At an early age he with his parents moved to St. Augusta, Illinois, where he resided until a young man. He served in the Civil War, Company E., 33rd Illinois Volunteer Infantry. Mr. Abbott was married to Miss Lorinda Trible on June 9th, 1870, at Avon, Illinois, and to this union were born four children. Phillitanna who died in infancy, Harry Abbott, of Ponca City, Okla., Fred Abbott of Conway, Arkansas, and Miss Grace Abbott, at home.

Mr. and Mrs. Abbott, came to Kansas in 1882 locating at Arkansas City, where Mr. Abbott was supervisor of the building of the first mill there, and also acted in the capacity of superintending the work of the building of the canal. A year later the family moved to Winfield where the have since resided and are among the highly respected citizens of our city. Mr. Abbott was a member of the First Presbyterian church at which place the funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in charge of the pastor, Rev. W.B. Lampe. Interment will be made in the Highland cemetery.

On account of illness in his family the son, Fred Abbott, of Conway, Arkansas, will be unable to attend the funeral.
