Phyllis J. Gann, 70, Springfield, born May 24, 1936, in Platte County, Mo., to the late Roy E. and Ruby (Allmon) Scherf, passed away on September 20, 2006, after a long illness. On August 12, 1951, she was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Gann in Jasper, Arkansas. Phyllis retired in 2001. She had been a beautician for over 50 years. Her family remembers her as a hard worker never missing a day of work. Phyllis went on one vacation in her whole life and that was to Colorado. One of her hobbies was knitting. Phyllis was a wonderful woman and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her loving husband of 55 years, Kenny; sister, Jeanne Gillham of Coronado, Calif.; brothers-in-law, John Cooney and wife Judy, Larry Cooney and wife Janet, and Dennis Cooney, all of Springfield; four nieces and one nephew; numerous other loving relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, September 23, 2006, in Klingner-Cope Family Funeral Home at Rivermonte Chapel, with burial in Rivermonte Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 1 p.m. in the chapel, 4500 S. Lone Pine, Springfield, MO 65804. In her honor, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 2446 E. Madrid, Springfield, MO 65804.
