Well Known Evangelistic Worker Died Monday Morning at City Rescue Mission.

He and Mrs. Durham Conducted Hope Cottage at Sherman and Cherokee for Ten Years—Funeral Wednesday Afternoon.
Rev. Martin Francis Durham, 51 years old, evangelistic worker, who with his wife, Mrs. M. Alice Durham, had mantained a mission in this city during the last eleven years, died yesterday morning, 6:15 o'clock, at his home, 214 Delaware street. General paresis caused his death. He had been in failing health during the last two years.
Mr. Durham was born, August 15, 1866, at Medora, Ind. About thirteen years ago while attending a mission in Kansas City he was converted. It was there that he met Mrs. Durham, who was an evangelistic worker in the mission. They were married, November 22, 1905. About two years later they moved to Leavenworth and since then the two had been engaged in evangelistic work. They established a mission, the Hope Cottage Rescue Home, at Sherman avenue and Cherokee street. Last May they moved to 214 Delaware street, where they established the City Rescue Mission.
HELPED THE WAYWARD.
The two evangelists have accomplished much good. He and Mrs. Durham have led many a wayward girl back to the straight and narrow path. No one was too degraded to secure refuge in the mission conducted by them. Leavenworth has lost a most desirable citizen by his death.
Besides his widow, an adopted daughter, Laura H. Durham, who lives in Kansas City, three brothers, Henry, Dallas and George Durham, of Indianapolis, and R. C., Lawrence, Kan., and one sister, Mrs. William Blockburger, 1015 Pottawatomie street, survive him.
Funeral services will be conducted from the City Rescue Mission, 214 Delaware street at 2:30 o'clock Wednesday afternoon. Pastors from the various churches in this city will conduct the services. The burial will be made in the Mount Muncie Cemetery under the direction of the J. C. Davis Undertaking company.
