US Congressman. A graduate of Harvard University, he was admitted to the bar in 1900 and commenced practice in Lynn, Massachusetts. He married Marie Theresa Van Depoele on June 24, 1904 in Lynn Massachusetts. He served as a member of the Massachusetts State house of representatives in 1905 and 1906. In 1913, he was elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-third and to the three succeeding Congresses serving until 1921. Not a candidate for reelection, he resumed law practice in Boston and Washington, D.C. In 1937, he was appointed a member of the Massachusetts Labor Relations Board and served until his death.
