Professional Tennis Player. A national court tennis champion, he created the VASSS (Van Alen Streamlined Scoring System) which introduced the tie-breaker into the sport. He founded the International Tennis Hall of Fame at the Newport Casino in Newport, Rhode Island in 1954. He himself was inducted in 1965.
