Iraqi Vice President, his full name was Taha Yasin Ramadan Al-Jizrawi. He served as the Vice President of Iraq under former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein from March 1991 until the fall of Hussein's government in April of 2003. He began his military and political career when he joined the Ba'ath Party in 1956. A former bank clerk, Ramadan met Hussein at about the same time. After Hussein came to power, he was eventually made Vice President. In 2003, after the United States invaded Iraq, he was named to the US's most wanted list, along with several other high ranking Iraqi military and political figures. Using a deck of cards featuring the 52 most wanted Iraqi leaders, Ramadan was named the Ten of Diamonds on the United States' list of most-wanted. He was captured on August 19, 2003, in Mosul, Iraq, by the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan and was handed over to American Forces. Along with Saddam Hussein (who was captured in December 2003), and other defendants, they were eventually put on trial by Iraqi's Special Tribunal for crimes committed at Dujail, Iraq, in 1982. On November 5, 2006, he was found guilty and sentenced to life imprisonment. The other defendants were also found guilty and were later put to death. On December 26, 2006, his life imprisonment conviction was overturned by the tribunal, because it was too lenient, and he was given a death sentence instead. He was officially sentenced to death on February 12, 2007, and was hanged before dawn on March 20, 2007.
