Activist, Actress. The daughter and eldest child of civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., she followed him as an advocate for peace and nonviolence. She held memberships in the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, which her father co-founded in 1957, and at the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). As an actress she appeared in several films, including "Ghosts of Mississippi", and played Rosa Parks in the 1978 miniseries "King". She was also head speaker, producer and founder of Higher Ground Productions, billed as a "gateway for inner peace, unity and global transformation."
