Staff Sgt. Roy P. Lewsader of Clinton, Indiana attended South Vermillion High School and entered the United States Army on his 17th birthday, May 10, 1988 and the active Army in September 1993, deploying overseas with the 1st Infantry Division transition team in January 2007. Roy loved his job and volunteered for the mission he was on in Afghanistan. He believed in what he was doing. He also did two tours of duty in Korea and was on his second tour in support of the current United States military efforts in Afghanistan and Iraq when he was died in Tarin Kowt from wounds suffered when his vehicle was struck by a rocket propelled grenade at age 36. He is survived by his wife and four daughters among others.
