US Congressman. As a Doctor, he was a medical missionary in the Shaowu and Fukien hospitals China, from 1925 to 1931. From 1932 to 1938, he was the medical hospital superintendent in China, under auspices of American Board of Commissioners for Foreign Missions. He returned to America in 1941 and engaged in private medical practice in Minneapolis, Minnesota. In 1943, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-eighth and to the nine succeeding Congresses, serving until 1963. An unsuccessful candidate for election, he was a contributing editor to Reader's Digest, 1963 to 1976 and a daily radio commentator, lecturer for the international relations government program "Washington Report," 1964 to 1970. In 1981, he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Ronald Reagan. Judd also co-founded the American Freedom Coalition and served as a director of the organization until his death.
