We chose Bridget from a batch of thirteen little Rotties running around causing havik in the breeders yard. I picked her because she was one of the runts and although friendly had a layed back personality.
My boys then ages six and five named her Bridget because they couldn't remember her given name, Gretchen, or the name I chose for her, Jade.
The only problem we had with her as a pup was her obsessive chewing. Even though we would buy her chew toys, she prefered shoes, socks and bindings on books.
She is the sweetest dog I've ever owned. When I fed her out on the deck on summer days she would actually share her food with the magpies that would swoop down and carry pieces of it off!
Bridgey, loved attention and loved giving it. She loved sleeping in bed with me and my sons. She enjoyed wrestling with her 'brother' Tristan a German Shepard two years younger than her. She adored kitties! She'd chase them in fun and if she found one that like her she would play and lick it as if it was one of her babies.
The only time she showed her grumpy side was when if we woke her suddenly or if she was intently eating. Then we would get the Bridget 'talk to the paw' growl.
During most of her life we lived in the forest in Idaho. Bridget had some scrarey and sometimes comical run-ins with a baby and mama bear, moose, a WHOLE heard of cattle, sheep, horses, skunks and porqupines... I don't EVEN want to talk about that one! Lol!
Our 'Princess' became ill with Atison's desease at the end of last summer. She responded well to treatment for a couple of months, but then became sick again. She past away at home with her boy, Chris, by her side.
Bridget had a long, charmed life and we miss her everyday. We can't wait to pick her up at Rainbow Bridge on our way to the Pearly Gates.
