Actor. Daniel Michaelli , a Slovak actor, was recognized for his role on the stage, in films, and television productions. Born the son of a chimney sweeper, both of his parents were amateur community theater actors, with his father performing in 60 plays and directing five plays. His acting career began in community theater following his father's footsteps. After high school, he studied art history at the Faculty of Arts of Comenius University in Bratislava, receiving a doctorate degree . He started in radio in 1949. After graduating, he worked at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, initially as a teacher, but from 1952 to 1957 he was the head of the Department of Theater Sciences. In 1958 he transferred to Czechoslovak Television, eventually becoming the head of the literary drama edition office. He developed what became the successful "Bratislava Mondays" with productions with well-known actors. From 1977, he had a reoccurring role as Louis Pasteur in a series, which was one of the seventeen movies or television series he appeared. He was one of the founders of the Youth Theater in Bratislava and the Binding Academic Theater. He directed seven productions including " Light of the North" in 1975, and "The case of Eva Burd" in 1981. He wrote five screen plays with the last being produced posthumously, in 1992 "Pavilion No.6." A street in the city of Martin was named in his honor.
