Mr. and Mrs. Frank Cadieux, Isabella St., received word from the War Department Sunday morning that their son, Richard, aged 21, was killed in action at Leyte on October 25. (Although the family name is Cadieux, the soldier and his father for many years have adopted the English version and have gone by the name of Kiah).
He enlisted in the service in June 1943 and was connected with and Engineer Depot Company and received his basic training at Ft Niagara. He was later sent to California and shipped overseas in July 1944.
Richard was well known and a beloved member of the community and will be sincerely missed by his wide circle of friends, who extend their deepest sympathy to his bereaved family.
He attended Holy Cross School and Ogdensburg Free Academy and was a member of Notre Dame Church.
Besides his parents, he is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Glenn Leahmy of Tahawus, NY, Mrs. Harris Brown and Miss Theresa Cadiux of this city, and one brother, Franklyn Cadieux, S 2-c who is now serving in the US Navy at Shoemaker, California.
